To oversee the management of the portfolio and development proposals for Westbourne Leisure, a leading independent West Midlands hospitality firm.
Claremont have been involved in Westbourne Leisure’s strategic business plan in transforming many of their properties through the introduction of new bed and breakfast accommodation by way of a change of use of redundant space. This provides new income streams where traditional public house arrangements have failed in producing adequate income. Such successful changes of use have included the Victory Club in Fazeley and The Liberal House in Tamworth.
Notably, Claremont Planning most recently achieved a landmark decision to erect a new accommodation block to provide 33 new bedrooms at the Three Horsehoes Inn, Stirchley, Birmingham (pictured). The proposed scheme had to overcome the Local Listing status of the building which resulted in a number of design and heritage issues to resolve. Through close collaboration by Claremont with Westbourne Leisure and Birmingham City Council, an acceptable scheme could be realised and consented.
This has has since been implemented, with the public house benefiting from a dramatic refurbishment and re-branding. Now known as The Bournbrook Inn, the public house remains a key community asset that is able to contribute towards the dramatic rejuvenation of Stirchley Village.
